Almost all states require the journeyman electrician program be completed from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institute. When this program is completed, a state licensing bureau test, including written and hands-on, must be taken. When this license is received, you have a great chance of finding fulfilling work.

Electromechanical technicians combine knowledge of mechanical technology with knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits. They install, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade electrical, electronic and computer-controlled mechanical systems, in such work environments as commercial and industrial settings.

An HVAC mechanic performs installation and maintenance on heating & air conditioning systems along with refrigeration units. All these units come in various sizes and capacities and are installed in different locations on the job-site. The HVAC mechanic analyzes these systems to make sure the units are running smoothly, efficiently and safely.

In most states plumbers are required to have a journeyman’s certification (license) in plumbing from a recognized and accredited post secondary institution. The responsibilities of a plumber are the installation, repairs and maintenance of pipes, fixtures and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and waste disposal in places such as residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

Western Iowa Tech is an American Welding Society accredited test facility that is able to test and qualify weld procedures and welders. We test welders and procedures in accordance with the national and international welding codes.
